Ramashram Satsang, Mathura (RSM) is a non-sectarian spiritual organization and it has its presence in India and in many parts of the world. It has been engaged in the spiritual and various other forms of humanitarian and social service activities for more than ninety years. Inspired by the ideals of its founder and guide, and also by the unconditional love and services of the saints of the RSM order it is incessantly serving millions of men, women and children, without making any distinction in the name of caste, religion or race. The foundation of this Satsang is laid on the principle of “Unconditional Love” because it sees living God in all of them. The main goal of RSM is to propagate the inscrutable teachings of Samarth Guru Param Sant Dr. Chaturbhuj Sahay Ji Maharaj (Reverentially called and popularly known among the followers as Sri Gurumaharaj). In the words of Sri Gurumaharaj, “God is energy, It has neither any name nor has any form, whatever name or form one assigns is appropriate, and to realize the God we do not have to leave this phenomenal world and slog towards the wood, It can be realized at one’s own abode only.

RSM was brought into existence by Samarth Guru Dr. Chaturbhuj Sahay Ji (1883-1957) in the year 1930. He founded this organization in the name of his Guru, Samarth Guru Param Sant Mahatma Sri Ram Chandra Ji Maharaj of Fatehgarh (popularly known as Mahatama Ji Maharaj). It is only after acquiring full spiritual powers and order of his Guru, Sri Gurumaharaj openly laid out the secrets of spiritual evolution kept closely guarded by the Saints since time immemorial. In this connection, the first Spiritual gathering of Ramashram Sastang, Mathura (then Etah) (commonly known as satasang in spiritual parlance) took place at district Etah in the year 1930 in the divine and auspicious presence of Mahatma Ji Maharaj.But, those beautiful days could not remain for too long as unfortunately and suddenly our beloved Mahatma Ji Maharaj left for his divine abode on 14th August, 1931. However, the light and the wisdom words, the guiding spirit and the blessings of Mahatma Ji Maharaj remained as the torch bearer which encouraged and guided Sri Gurumaharaaj in the propagation of the message of his master. Sri Gurumaharaj carried the flag of his Master’s name as a true disciple and as a servant of his master, and served this satsang till 24th of September, 1957 before leaving to his final abode.

Sri Gurumaharaj observed that the environment, age and strength of the people of this era are diminishing and their life is becoming burdensome and busy. A householder does not have enough time to subscribe to the existing tedious and time consuming spiritual practices. He further observed that the common householder is afraid with the name of yoga and do not consider themselves eligible to have self–realization. He observed that people are of the view that spiritual knowledge can only be obtained through renunciation which is the path of ascetics only. Householders simply cannot follow and adopt the difficult spiritual practices and simultaneously also obey their household duties. The myths and dogmas prevalent in the society prevented the common people to follow the path of salvation.

The eastern way of thought coins the concept of Atman, the individual self and the absolute reality, Brahman, around which the whole concept of duality and oneness is derived. It says that Atman or the individual self is the tiny drop of that Brahman and the way an individual soul can easily merge itself with the Brahman is through yoga. Sri Gurumaharaj observed that the methods of yoga written and explained in the ancient texts were wrapped and covered in coded form and the language used in those texts have also been a barrier in understanding the true and hidden meanings of those ancient corpus. According to him this was the central impediments in the field of Yogic science for general mass. Although apart from Vedanta several other systems of philosophy arose in India at different times, but they were all confined to small groups or were only practiced by yogis and were not suitable for the common people. These facts and the conditions stirred the soul of Sri Gurumaharj to propagate the ancient system of thought in a new purified, unified and energized way and the technique he devised is called ‘Drushta yoga through Upasana’. He named it as “Naveen Sadhana“, a unique Spiritual technique. This system is a synthesis of Karma (dutiful-action), Upasana (devotion) and Gyana (knowledge). The main methodology of this practice is Drusta Yoga through Upasana. It is a unique way of assimilating the Divine energy in the divine presence of a Samarth Guru. The spiritual progress of the follower of this Sadhana is carried with the help of the Divine grace of the Master who transfers the Power of his Soul in the heart of the practitioners. Breaking away from the centuries-old norms and outer customaries of initiation (Diksha), Sri Gurumaharaj openly propagated the teachings of his Guru to all the fellows who sought his help in this field and guided them without any discrimination, preconditions and evaluating the spiritual stages of the seekers.

Universal Love is the objective of all Spiritual Methods. In this way of Spiritual practice, practioners feels blissful vibrations and presence of God’s Love throughout his spiritual journey and in his overall spiritual journey come across by him in different spiritual realms. The central focus remains on the Spiritual Master, who is looked upon as a father, mother, and brother or like a guide by the aspirants and all the satsangi brothers and sisters gather at one place like a family thus concretizing the concept of ‘vasudhaiva kutumbkam’ in their life. The Master, who by his own spiritual Powers, uplifts the seekers and make them experience the higher stages of spirituality. As concentration of mind and serene intellect is needed to reach at the exalted stages and experience the higher dimensions of existence, RSM has evolved its own system of meditation, designed not only to bring the aspirants up to the level of receiving and experiencing the power of the Soul (the goal of spiritual evolution and the main objective of every religion) but also it makes the seeker to remain in the higher stages of the spiritual realms and get the flow of the divine energy automatically yet actively fulfilling his external duty of the outer world. The methods and principles of this practice are applicable to and adaptable by people of any section of the society; easy and convenient to the householders and include all religions.

RSM is probably the only school of its kind, where the method of transmission of Soul-Power has evolved to such an extent that such power transmission is carried out not only on one to one basis but from one to many. At the tri-monthly meets known as 'Bhandara', thousands of aspirants receive this power at the same time. Overtly, all are seen only to practice meditation, but each one of the aspirant notices and experiences the altered state upon leaving the Bhandara. Such periodic dosages of spiritual power transferred at the time of Satsang or Bhndaras (Spiritual congregations periodically throughout the year) brings about phenomenal changes in the life of the seeker not only at the spiritual level but also at the mental and at the intellectual level which makes his life more balance and peaceful.

Practioners of this method are also required to keep in touch with the Master and meet with the Master at least once in every three months. He has to follow this spiritual practice (Dhyana or meditation) every morning and every evening for 15–20 minutes on daily basis at home when he is not in the company of the Master.

Headquarter of the RSM is at Mathura, the northern town of India, in the state Uttar Pradesh. This center is also the sole center of its publications. It publishes number of spiritual books and literature. RSM is publishing a spiritual magazine ‘Sadhan’ since 1931 for the benefit of the seekers in Hindi and in the English language. These literatures are mostly written by Sri Gurumaharaj and chief disciples of Sri Gurumaharaj.
